Apparently I'm the most unique person in my senior class. Cool.

I still think these things are stupid.

I went to get my picture taken for the yearbook and I saw so many people I never knew existed and have gone to my school for 4 years. I filled out the voting form with US presidents.

Kinja'd!!!

Most likely to succeed was Jefferson Davis.

Unfortunately, there are no degrees of uniqueness. You are either unique or you are not.

To me it's like a backhanded compliment.

It's like "you're the least like the rest of us". Good.

Not true, or only true at the end-of-life event (basically on the death bed.) Goddamn mother fucking people can be totally unique young and then fade inn uniqueness to end of life, or totally generic young and then pull an all nighter that lights the planet on fire for uniqueness. No telling. No way to predict.

Most of us end up being unique sometimes and generic most times. Fer instance, driving a race. We can excel and be unique in that aspect each time we do it but totally generic in all other aspects of life.

No telling. So.. from my standpoint, no judgement on the masses. (I have generic generalizations on the masses, but understand they are false in the specific.)

Of course, if you're only talking about a specific moment, then yes, we are U-Ni-Que or Not in that moment. I was taking the gestalt view on the comment.

In retrospect, I suppose I should have said "something is either unique or it is not" instead of "You." But in its most basic sense, coming from the Latin meaning "one", there is no way to be more—or less—one of something. I think I need another cup of coffee if we're going to get into philosophy this early in the morning.

No philosophy needed - you explained your comment in your response. I get it.

My only point was just that unique-ness is a present moment event, not a long term thing. And yes, there I'm with you on the "one" thing. Besides, too much coffee just results in Too Much Coffee Man:

I looked at this again. "Succeed?" Was somebody making a pun on "Secede?" Or was it somebody who doesn't know how to spell?

What's funny is that your school is using the word "unique" improperly. "Unique" means "one of a kind," so there can't be any degrees of "uniqueness." It's impossible to be more unique or most unique. You're either unique or you're not.

...but Enloe sees value in you. And you can say 'Hi!' to your old teachers when you see them at McDonald's.
